We have had this app downloaded on our phones for years and use it regularly. We have it synced to our Apple Watches so our steps are automatically logged into the app. Over the past couple of years, the app has seen a lot of really great changes that make this one of the most user-friendly calorie counting apps.
NOOM: Noom takes on a whole different approach and goes into the psychology of your health habits. It identifies your triggers and helps you overcome the barriers that are keeping you from your health goals. This app is pricier compared to your typical calorie and fitness trackers but in our opinion, it is worth it! This app is taking a science-based approach to help you break unhealthy habits and instill new and healthy ones. At the risk of sounding a bit dramatic, this app really could change your life.
NIKE TRAINING CLUB: Personalized workouts, 185+ FREE workouts, and expert advice make this app a must-have if you’re on the road to a healthier lifestyle. Starting a new workout regime can be down-right daunting and overwhelming. The Nike Training Club app has workouts for all skill sets, shorter workouts, and the best part might just be that no workout equipment is required!
CALM: Living your healthiest life also means taking care of your emotional and mental well-being. Calm is your go-to app for sleep, meditation, and relaxation. We found the breathing exercises and guided meditation to be incredibly helpful and a great addition to our current health and fitness plan. There are also a number of calming sounds and sleep stories available to you as well.
YOGA STUDIO: Calling all yogis! This app is great for every skill set. The Yoga Studio app can be accessed on your phone, iPad, and Apple TV, so you can get your yoga on anywhere you wish. There are 120+ yoga classes that range from 5 to 60 minutes. How awesome is that?! In addition to all of the different classes available for you to view, you can create your own class! Seriously, this app is awesome for all yoga-lovers and after your free 7-day trial is up, we are sure you will be a paying subscriber (we are)!
7 CUPS: Feeling stressed or anxious and need to vent? Download 7 Cups and have a confidential conversation with a trained listener volunteer. There is also an option to engage in guided discussions in a group support chat room. We feel that this app takes the cake in the emotional and mental health sector because not only is someone listening and conversing with you, but they will also provide you skills and tools to help rectify the situation you are experiencing. Your mental health is incredibly important, give 7 Cups a try if you need to talk to someone.
HEALTH TAP: YAY! At last, you can finally see a doctor and receive medical advice with just a few clicks. There are more than 140,000 certified doctors that are on the app to provide answers and help to you 24/7. You are also able to browse its content library that has over 2.6 million doctor-answered questions. We chose this app to make our list of top apps because instead of Googling your symptoms and thinking you only have 2 hours to live, you can get real information from real-doctors without the hassle of going to your primary care physician. We shouldn’t have to say this, but we will because of legal mumbo jumbo, but please seek immediate medical attention if you are experiencing life-threatening symptoms.
STRONG WORKOUT TRACKER GYM LOG: Carrying a pad of paper and a pencil around the gym is a thing of the past because this app keeps track of your reps, weights, workouts, goals, etc. This tracker is everything! You can even upload your progress pictures to the app, share your workouts with friends, and add your own routines. In our opinion, this app is gold. Sometimes it can be incredibly difficult to remember what set you’re on or the weight you lifted on your last workout, this app makes tracking your workout an absolute breeze.
SWEAT: Kayla Itsines took social media by storm with her short and concise workouts that packed a powerful punch for women looking to get their best bikini body and up their confidence. This app offers a free 7-day trial so there isn’t a long-term commitment of obligation. In addition to workouts, the app offers hundreds of balanced recipes, meal plans, and the opportunity to compete in female fitness challenges across the globe!
